Protect the environment

and raise awareness

The OUREA race site will be located at the Avoriaz 1800 resort, which is fully pedestrianised and has also been voted the most innovative resort in terms of sustainable development, hence perfectly embracing the values we’re championing in this project, together with the values of trail running.

The OUREA race site will be located at the Avoriaz 1800 resort, which is fully pedestrianised and has also been voted the most innovative resort in terms of sustainable development, hence perfectly embracing the values we’re championing in this project, together with the values of trail running.

The 250km of trail tracks over the week-long competition will cover the Domaine des Portes du Soleil, the mountainous heartland of trail running, which is a fragile playground that we must preserve.

As organisers, and with a duty to set an example, we’re setting up organisational phases in the run-up to the event, whose actions are geared around optimising positive impact and minimizing our negative impact.

We are taking inspiration from the Charter for organisers of sports events, which details 15 environmentally-friendly pledges with the ultimate aim of fully adhering to it in the future.

The measures put in place:

• Reasoned water management• Purchasing as many eco-friendly and organic foods as possible, together with seasonal and local produce• Selective sorting and management of waste• Limiting the use of plastics• Implementing ECOCUPs at aid stations• Cleaning up of the trails before and after the races: “La Patrouille Verte” - the Green Patrol• Respecting signage• Raising awareness among runners and accompanying persons• Transporting spectators using ski lifts rather than cars• Raising awareness among young generations about preserving the mountains and the environment through educational workshops
